Woke

There’s something obscene I am witnessing online and it is this: mga scholar ng bayan, mga pinag aral ng bayan ng ubod nang kayayabang.

Where I am coming from is this: my father was a scholar from high school, all through law school. A poor man’s son who graduated top of his class- valedictorian, summa cum laude, top of his law school class and placed in the bar.

And I never, once, heard him brag nor make an embarrassing ass of himself showing off the spiffy stat calculations he learned in school to show just how smart he is.

And I know why this is so.

It humbled him immensely when he thought about the priceless gift of education he got from generous institutions and he never forgot.

I don’t think there will ever be anyone who will say my father was anything but humble and softspoken.

Zero yabang.

He was, in different stages of his life, a Constitutional Convention delegate, a congressman, Senate Secretary, COMELEC commissioner, Sandiganbayan Justice.

And all that meant to him were various ways he could truly serve the Filipino people- not as ways to enrich himself or reason to strut about.

His humility wasn’t anything he spoke about but something that manifested itself in his life. It spilled over in this compassion for the poorest of the poor- the place from where he came from because he never forgot, as I said.

I thought we were rich bec my father had scholars, widows, seniors, the sickly that he gave monthly stipends to.

And he was so tender with sampaguita vendors, buying all their leis because it was dark and “Uwi na kayo ha?” he’d say tenderly and sometimes with tears in his eyes.

He was so generous that my siblings and I called him “Lord” because there’d be a long line of people who would come to him for help and they would leave relieved, whispering under their breath, “Ang bait ni Lord.” lol

And he would never have displayed the disgusting sense of superiority and sickening sense of entitlement so prevalent in today’s kids who go to this country’s best schools-some of them on taxpayer’s money- and yet would spit and be condescending to the very people they must give back to.

Who shove their intellectual superiority down the throats of people they look down on- the very people they should serve.

I want to chalk it up to youth but I know what it is.

With the CPP NPA NDF deeply insinuated in their souls, they think nothing of their proficiency in the language of hate and mistrust towards government taught them by these villains.

In fact they they think it’s cool…and so woke.

Tragic, really.
